Sing and Sign

Posted on June 19, 2015

Staff stayed in nursery for some additional training on Tuesday evening, we welcomed Lavinia Bell from Sing and Sign to  give us a thorough understanding of the approach.  Several songs and signs later the nursery has an action plan and we are delighted to say that we are now an affiliated Sing and Sign nursery, if you would like to know more about the approach please visit www.singandsign.com

This will support us in getting our youngest members communication off to a flying start which is built on in each room until our Dragonfly Room where the children use less sings and a much broader vocabulary.  Children can find it very frustrating not to be understood and we feel that singing with them reduces this, allowing them to be heard in a different way. The setting has six signs and one of the songs is being used in each room this week, if you would like to know what they are please speak to your child's key Person they will be happy to demonstrate these and I'm sure the children will be singing the songs at home soon.
