Castle in the Park

Posted on August 17, 2016

Last week's trip to Masham and playing in the park there seems to have sparked a lot of chatter about castles, kings and princesses. To follow on from this the staff and Dragonfly children set off to visit Jervaulx Abbey yesterday. The ruins were the perfect place for storytelling and imaginative play as the children wove their way through the arches and began knocking on the the old doors; "it's a broken castle", "I wonder who lived there", "maybe the king".  As the children ventured further the staff noted all the size vocabulary "tall", "huge" and directional language the children used today. There is so many learning possibilities it won't be long before they set off in search of another castle...
