New Books, New Challenge

Posted on March 06, 2017

It is the second week of our Month of Stories and the Incy Wincy's Busy Book Borrowers are beginning to take up our 10 week challenge, so we have added some new books to the baskets in each room for them to enjoy.

I spent this morning with the children in our Grasshopper Pre-School; they are sharing the story of Mabel and the Sock Pirates by Elwyn Tate this half term and doing all kinds of "sock-y" activities.  This reminded me of a video clip on the Bookstart webpage - Top tips for sharing books with your child http://www.bookstart.org.uk/books/sharing-books/ti...

The clip explains how introducing a puppet can add to the fun when sharing a storybook, of course not all families will have a puppet so they suggest... using a brightly coloured sock!  While the children take on the Busy Borrowers challenge I'm inviting parents to accept their own creative challenge - design and make a sock puppet character. I hope you'll share a picture of your puppet later in the week  - Sarah MG
